Message from the President:

Well another month has gone by and three rough and windy cold weather tournaments under our belts. But winter isn't over yet guys, remember Lake Seminole last year, wow! Well now, the "Top Six Fund" now stands at $185.00. The raffle and auction at the January meeting netted $70.00 thanks to all who participated. Got some good stuff coming up for the February meeting, i.e., a $100.00 Color Selector, a reel or two, some wine, etc. So give it some thought and jump in and participate, I know the Top Six Team will appreciate your help and it can only cost you a buck or two. So lets all jump in there and do our part. Reminder: In accordance with Article II, section 2, para. b of the Constitution, if you fail to attend six (6) consecutive club functions without notice you will be removed from membership. So be sure to contact an E-Board member when you are unable to attend any function. I mention this because we have had a couple members right down to the wire and on the verge of being dropped. Nobody wants this to happen to a member so if you know of a member falling into this category do him a favor and remind him. Don't forget the annual PHH Banquet on Friday, February 9th, starts at 6:30 p.m. See you at the banquet, until then,

Wally

January Tournament:

The January tournament was held on the Tensaw River out of Cliff's Landing. There were 26 Hawg Hunters present to fish at safe daylight. The air temperature was in the mid 30's, the skies were partly cloudy. Everyone left at safe daylight with plans on bringing in a few bass to weigh-in. At weigh-in their were 48 fish weighed in for a total of 73.75 lbs. It was John Buck who would come in with a nice limit of largemouth bass and the winning weight of 10.25 lbs. John also took big fish for the day weighing in a lunker at 2.75 lbs. There were quite a few two pound fish that were brought in such as: Lee Brannon 2.55, Wally Cassiano, Stan Wright and Neil Springstead 2.35, Jere Jaillite 2.25, Paul Sullivan and Mack Cramer 2.05. It looks as though the females are starting to stage for the up coming spawn. Wally Cassiano also brought a limit of fish to the scales giving him a total weight of 9.25 lbs which was good enough for second place. Wally and John were teamed up in Wally's boat, I don't think John minded that he wasn't able to take his boat for the six month in a row. Jere Jaillite came in third was guided by Fred Raby, also brought a limit of fish to the scales weighing in at 7.70 lbs. Paul Sullivan came in fourth weighed in four fish for a total of 6.15 lbs. Stan Wright brought in three fish for 5.95 and fifth place. Lee Brannon and Neil Springstead tied with 5.45 lbs to round out the top six. Congratulations goes to John Buck who brought home the win. John had gone without a fish for the first two tournaments and came on strong with a win.
Great job fishing to everyone.
