Old Business:

Pete Potter has reserved the Blue Angel park for this years picnic. The date is set for the 29th of September, which is the last Sunday of the month.
So all
of you Hawghunters mark your calenders and plan on having a great time.
Just like last year.
Be
thinking about the number of
people in your party who will attend the picnic and about the
festivities that will take place.
Example: Horseshoes, etc.
We will discuss these issues along with the food at the August meeting. It is important
that we have a commitment of the number of people in your party so we can plan accordingly.

~Special Landslide Vote~

Don Jahnke has been , and this
was by a huge landslide, nominated as picnic fire-marshal.

New Business:

The Hawghunters would like
to express their appreciation to
Jim Bailey Sr., and to John Buck
for all the hard work they do making the Hawg Hunters web page one of the best around...
We
hope bass fisherman around the country enjoy our website and
continue to read it in the future.

To Wally Cassiano:

The Pensacola Hawg Hunter membership wish to thank you for the job you have done
as our club President. Your shoes will be very tough to fill in the future.

Wally resigned as clubPresident on July 17th. He will continue on as a club member
and fish with the Hawghunters.

Kevin Simmons, our present
Vice President/Treasurer, will take over as President and fulfill the remaining 2002 season.

July Tournament:

The July tournament was held at Claiborne Reservoir out of the Isaac Creek Landing. There were 20 Hawg Hunters present to fish at safe daylight. The club decided to have a 2 p.m. weigh-in, because of the heat that was predicted, and
sure enough, the prediction was
correct. Saying it was hot would
be an understatement, I actually
had a bass follow my lure to the
surface, felt the sun, and went deep to prevent being sunburned.
"Not really, just wanted to add a
little humor." Anyway, everyone
looked forward to having a good
day on the water, and hoped to catch a limit, as it turned out, no
limits were brought to the scales.

Come weigh-in time John Buck
did bring 4 fish to the scales weighing 8.30 lbs and was
good enough to take first place.
Mack Cramer and Rich Cornelius took 2nd and 3rd place.

Jeff Weaver had the big-fish of the day which weighed in at 3.75 lbs. Congratulations to John Buck and Jeff Weaver.

July Tournament:

John had some boat motor problems and will forever be in debt to Fred Raby for giving him and his fish a ride to the scales.
I wonder if Fred will get a % of the winnings? Only time will tell.
For those who have not fished
Claiborne Lake, I am convinced
that there is an unknown spirit,
or phenomenon if you will, on
that river system that might also
be called the Bermuda triangle.
It seems every time our club goes
there, somebody has some kind of
problem with either their boat or
motor...So be aware.
I'm sure everyone was glad to see 2 p.m. roll around that day to weigh their fish. On extremely hot days like that, it's better to play it safe. Thanks to
Blinky, Neil Springstead, our tournament director for making the call.
