Old Buisness:

None

New Buisness:

This was a pretty short meeting not much business discussed.
One major item:
Congratulations to Jim Bailey Jr. another member to re-member
(if that is a word) to the Hawg Hunters. He also immediately won the raffle for John Buck's fishing rod. Thanks John for the donation!

There was some discussion regarding moving from the Days Inn Motel to the Southern Inn at Miller's Ferry because of several bad experiences there. Motion was passed to move the motel reservations and Dave Dyess will look into it. Saturday was the absolute jewel for fishing weather but unfortunately we weren't the only ones on the lake. I don't mean to sound greedy but it would sure been nice if those fellas from up north would have stayed up north. It got a little difficult to find a cove or a point that didn't have not only one but most times two or three boats already there.

March Tournament:

Wow! What a weekend to go fishing. Even the fish seemed happy to be there. Some folks made it up early to pre fish on Friday and even a few others that made it up there as early as Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday weren't the best conditions (windy) but Friday was pretty nice. 50's in the morning and warming up well into the 70 s by mid afternoon. The fishing was pretty good by most everyone's account on Friday. But the fish didn't really seem to mind too much. The weather man was consistent for the entire weekend…he missed it every day.

March Tournament Cont:

Saturday was forecast to be light rain in the morning with overcast throughout the day with ongoing scattered showers. Sunday was supposed to be a really pretty day with partly cloudy skies warming up to mid 70s. Well, Saturday was absolutely beautiful, the morning clouds cleared pretty quickly, no rain and a lot of sun found it's way down to the lake. This caused some changes in tactics from what was working so well on Friday under overcast skies. Sunday just needed some rain to turn miserable. It stayed chilly, even seemed to get colder as the morning wore on and to add insult to injury the wind steadily picked up to a pretty steady blow by the time 1:00 weigh came around. All in all it was a good fishing weekend with everyone catching fish. We had a good turn out of members for the tournament with 8 full boats. Both days there was over 105 lbs of fish caught, a total of 127 fish caught; 65 on day one and 62 on day 2, with an average weight per fish pretty close to 1.7 lbs. There were 9 limits caught on day one and 8 limits caught on day 2. There was some pretty consistent catching going on…
There was only 1.3 lbs separating the top 4 places.

1st Place
Mack Cramer

Mack Cramer had a really nice limit on day one - 11.69 lbs and followed up on day 2 with just enough, 8.09 lbs for a total of 19.78 lbs to hold off Jim Bailey Sr. for the win.

2 nd Place
Jim Bailey Sr

Jim had the most consistent catch over the two days, 10.06 lbs on day one and 9.14 on day two for a total of 19.20 lbs. Just a little short of the number one spot but still a great weekend.

3rd Place
Jere Jaillite

Jere Jaillite also had a couple of good days with over 10 lbs on day one and just under 9 lbs on day two for a total of 18.69 lbs.

4th Place
Kevin Simmons

The final money spot was taken by Kevin Simmons who was less than a quarter of a pound from taking third away from Jere with a 2 day total of 18.47 lbs. Congratulations to all four of these anglers and great job on these solid stringers.
Fishing is what we come for but this trip we had a real treat with an invite by Pete and Vi Potter to do our cookout at their house. Saturday night's cookout was a great time the food was excellent, so was visiting with everyone and exchanging fish stories. Overall, a really great time. THANK YOU to Pete and Vi for opening their home to us!! Thanks to Julie Jaillite and VI for the wonderful desert. Thanks to Dave Dyess for getting all the food together and hauling it up there and Thanks to John Buck for making sure we had something to cook on and for battling the unforecast rain.
Thanks Kevin for the umbrella. I'm sure that everyone that was able to attend enjoyed themselves.
