Message From The President:

As we enter the coldest times of the year for us, please be reminded of safety on the water. All boaters should keep a spare set of dry clothes and a large towel on board during the cold times as well as several packets of hand warmers. These could literally be a life saver should you fall in the water and have a long ride back to safety.
A little pre-planning is well worth the effort. Don't play games with
hypo-thermia. If you err always err on the side of safety .

December Tournament:

At daybreak on December the 13 fifteen Hawg Hunters and one prospective member (Frank Dodge) were found at Scotts Landing on the Tensaw River. Some were heard to be murmuring about the cold weather, but all were thankful that the rain earlier that week had gone away. Morning temperatures in the upper thirties barely reached into the upper sixties by mid-day.
Although not extremely windy, even the slightest breeze brought a chill with it. We were thankful for the little amount of sunshine we did get during the day. To say it was a tough day of fishing would not be an exaggeration at all.
At weigh in only 8 of the anglers had fish to bring to the scales and
7 anglers got to be listed in the
ALSO FISHED category.
In total only 16 fish were brought to the scales for a weight of 18.40 lbs.

1st Place
Mack Cramer

Mack Cramer had the only limit of the group and took the first place with five fish and 6.14 lbs.

2nd Place
Glenn Kittrell

He was followed by Glenn Kittrell with two fish and 2.13 lbs.

3rd Place
John Buck

Third place was claimed by John Buck with two fish and 2.10 lbs.

4th Place
Lee Brannon

While Lee Brannon was close behind John with one fish at 2.04 lbs, he was able to pull off 4th place plus win the big fish for the tournament. Santa was good to him because he won most of the marbles.

Next month the Hawg Hunters return to the Escambia River. We will be launching at Smith's Fish Camp.
This tournament will take place
on January 24, 2009
Here's hoping the fish gods will shine on us.
