From The Editor:

Well guys another year is headed for the archives and what a great year it was.
Some good
fishing was had by all plus five new fishermen came to the club and are now wearing Hawg Hunter
Teal Caps.

I would like to especially thank John Buck for another great year as president and all the E-Board for the help they have given me to make this site what it is.
Jeff Weaver will stay on another year as secretary and that really makes my job go so much easier. When Jeff gets out of line all I have to do is tell him I'm going to take his chug bugs away from him....
It's amazing how fast I get that info then. Also a big thanks to Jere Jaillite, Bob Hanson and Buddy Yates. Jere and Bob proof read the monthly reports before I upload them to make sure they can see what you see. It doesn't always work out that way on my end.
A big thanks to Buddy for taking photo's at tournaments I miss and getting them to me really quick. He has been a big help.
Lastly I would like to thank you the members for putting up with me in getting what info and photo's needed to keep our website the best on the net....See Ya Next Year

Thank You!!
Jim Bailey

Message From The President:

The month of October always is a month of reflection for me as the club ends its competitive fishing year. Certainly many "thank you's" are in order to ALL the members for your cooperation and support throughout the year. I believe our club is as strong as it has ever been and the camaraderie among the members is great. Our club has continued to grow and prosper, and it has been a real pleasure to serve as president for the past 2 years.
I hope that the new eboard will receive the same support as we received in the past
2 years. It really makes the club stronger and more enjoyable when there is support like we have had.

A special thank you to Jim Bailey for the work he has done with the website to keep it updated and running well. We are really fortunate to have such a great website.
I am really proud of it and also know that it takes many hours of work to keep it going and updated on a regular basis.
Thanks a bunch Jim!

Now is the time to start planning for the upcoming fishing year and for participating as much as possible in the club activities. We've got a great bunch of guys in the club so let's do our best to make the new fishing year the best ever. Thanks again for the support and cooperation for the past 2 years. Let's have a great year in 2010.

October Tournament:

The Hawg Hunters were scheduled to fish our October tournament and Fish Off on Lay Lake near Clanton Alabama. The launch site was at the Lower Dam Landing. Everyone left early on Friday morning and by the time we rolled into Montgomery it was raining like crazy. No one expected the cold front that followed to be as extreme as it was but it was down right windy and cold both days of the tournament. Some caught fish and some didn't. Those that did were very fortunate for the fish seemed to be very picky about who they were going to take a boat ride with.

1st Place
Frank Kelly

With fishing as hard as it was Frank Kelly found the right bait early Saturday and began to put a whoopin on the rest of the herd. Once all the cussin, fussin and hair pullin was over Frank brought in a total 9 fish and 14.88 lbs. for the tournament.

2nd Place
John Buck

Mr John Buck could feel the blood draining from his lead Saturday as Fisherman Of The Year as Jere Jaillite took over with a small but good enough lead for the conditions we were fishing but John must a went back to his motel room and rethunk things out and took it back on Sunday with a total catch of 7 fish and 14.55 lbs. That also gave John a second place win for the tournament. What a better way ta go out as president.

3rd Place
Dave Dyess

Dave Dyess our new leader in crime for the 2010 fishing season found some fish stacked up waiting for a free boat ride and pulled in 9 for 13.41 lbs and a 3rd place win.
Way ta go Dave.

4th Place
Kevin Simmons

Well, Well lookie here...Some one we haven't heard much of this year!!
I guess since Kevin Simmons won one of the higher paying jobs on our e-board as treasurer for next year he probably figured it would only be fitting if he drained the last few bucks of this years treasury for himself.
(The Wall Street Boyz Call It Bonus Time).

Kevin took out the final spot with a 4th place win with 8 nice fish and 12.47 lbs.

The Presidents Dinner:

The high light of the fish-off has become the annual Presidents Dinner. This year was no exception. The out going President John Buck, recruited the incoming President, and the 2009 Angler of the Year to assist him in being the chief chef. The dinner was held at Pete Potter's house and as always Pete makes us all feel at home. Dave picked up steaks again at Apple Market Grocery and again the butcher done good. Everyone wanted to stick around and yack but with a meal set for a king you could see the crowd fastly melting away.

Special Note:

Angler of the Year

Going into the Fish-Off the past several years the coveted title of Angler of the Year had been up for grabs and this year was no different. John Buck was chunkin & windin to hold on to a 2 1/2 point lead over Jere Jaillite, and Lee Brannon. Jere snatched the glory away from John after the Saturday tournament with a .33 lb lead but ole John knew he had to do it two days in a row to keep it. Tension was high Sunday morning but with a 38 degree temperature at blastoff it made you forget that real quick. At the final weigh-in on Sunday and very hard fishing conditions John was able to pull it off with 2 fish at 4.13 lbs against Jere with 1 fish at .86 lbs. These squeaker tournaments just seem to get better and better each year.
Congratulations John!!
